Pittsburgh, PA – December 20, 2024 – Union Railroad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transtar, LLC, (“Transtar”) is pleased to announce the award of a $2.6 million grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (“PennDOT”) to replace 1,386 ties and upgrade rail on the High Grade Bridge, which supports a critical part of the manufacturing supply chain in Allegheny County.  This project will also add new walkway grating, improving safety on the bridge itself.
