Pittsburgh, PA – December 20, 2023 – Union Railroad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transtar, LLC, is pleased to announce the award of a $2.1 million grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to support critical infrastructure improvements along its rail lines. This investment will enable Union Railroad to replace approximately 15,000 ties in the Classification Yard in Duquesne, and the North Bessemer Yard in Penn Hills, enhancing safety, reliability, and efficiency for freight transportation in the region.
