Gary Railway Company (GRW) is a Class III switching carrier and operates on 63 miles of Yard Track at Gary, IN. Originally part of Elgin Joliet and Eastern Railway Company (EJE), GRW was created when the bulk of EJE was sold to Canadian National in 2009, to provide focused local and yard switching for customers in Gary.

GRW provides rail transportation service to U. S. Steel’s Gary Works, as well as four other customers located inside the USS Gary complex:

  • ArcelorMittal USA – Steel Plate Mill
  • Tube City IMS, LLC
  • Brandenburg Industrial Service Company
  • South Shore Slag, LLC

GRW interchanges with CN at Gary, IN and has revenue interchanges with the Class I carriers that interchange along the lines of the EJE.
